Gov. Jon & Mary Kaye Huntsman

Renovations & Additions
PROJECT DETAILS:Salt Lake City, UT  Architect: Max Smith

MJSA Architects designed this major addition and remodel for Gov. Jon and Mary Kaye Huntsman which was completed in 2002. This house, originally built in 1933, reflects the architecture of the Georgian and Federal periods of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Heavily profiled eave and cornice with cornice returns at the cross-wing gable, prominent chimneys, brick quoins, classical motifs at the vaulted entry portico, multi-light transom above the entry and multi-light double-hung windows are all characteristic of this architectural style. This project included significant upgrades to the east addition and throughout the interior plus construction of expanded two story living space to the rear. Throughout this process, the historic house has been respected and carefully added to and adapted to modern needs.
